Job Description: Education Special Education Autism Behavior Specialist

Position Overview:
The Education Special Education Autism Behavior Specialist is responsible for providing specialized support and intervention to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within an educational setting. This role requires expertise in understanding and addressing the unique behavioral, communication, and social challenges faced by individuals with Autism. The Autism Behavior Specialist will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to develop and implement effective strategies, interventions, and behavior plans to promote the academic, social, and emotional growth of students with Autism.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the specific needs, strengths, and challenges of students with Autism.
2. Develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIP) for students, based on assessment results and collaboration with the IEP team.
3. Provide direct support to students with Autism in the classroom, ensuring their access to curriculum, promoting positive behavior, and facilitating social skills development.
4. Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to design and implement inclusive, differentiated instructional strategies to meet the unique learning needs of students with Autism.
5. Train and support teachers and other school staff in implementing evidence-based strategies and interventions for students with Autism.
6. Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of student progress, adjusting interventions and behavior plans as needed.
7. Collaborate with parents and guardians to develop and implement strategies to support the child's progress and meet their individual goals.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, behavior incidents, interventions, and communication with parents and professionals.
9. Stay current on research, best practices, and legislation related to Autism Spectrum Disorder and special education, sharing knowledge and resources with colleagues.

Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Valid teaching certification in Special Education or related field.
3. Extensive knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder, its characteristics, and evidence-based interventions.
4. Proven experience working with students with Autism in an educational or clinical setting.
5. Strong knowledge of behavior management strategies, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and Positive Behavior Support (PBS) techniques.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
7. Ability to conduct thorough assessments, analyze data, and develop individualized behavior intervention plans.
8. Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective instructional strategies and accommodations for students with Autism.
